Girly tomboy with a passion for fighting, writing, hockey and life’s delicacies, like chicken wings and beer.
I’m sure by now you have heard about a certain “journalist” writing about why there are so few female bloggers, and her ridiculous analogy between blogging and snowmobiling. If you didn’t read it, don’t worry, you didn’t miss anything. She compares BLOGGING to RIDING A SNOWMOBILE with regards to men and women. Don’t ask – I don’t even know, man.
I am sick of hearing, reading and generally being subjected to women who think they are entitled to some special treatment because they were born with a vagina. The war cry “We want equality!” when it pertains to something as stupid as blogging or anything else as trivial is a waste of everyone’s time. I am obviously not talking about actual important and dangerous sexism, like sexual harassment in the workplace (although might I add that women who dress like a whore to work sort of forfeit the right to cry HARASSMENT just because a male coworker looks leers at them — and I was in human resources in my previous life, so I’ve seen it happen), or sexual trafficking.
I, myself, am admittedly in a man’s world: I have 57,000 male cousins and only brothers, no sisters,I love hockey and MMA, have a gig on sports radio and attend live MMA events. The comments are nasty and the critique is harsh: either I am a slut or I am a man-hating butch. One week I am being asked if not dressing like a ringgirl means I am a lesbian and don’t want men looking at me; the next I’m being included in a “Hockey Hotties” list.
Demanding equal rights is one thing, but women are not special because they are women. People are special when they are courageous, inspiring and fearless. Women who continuously single themselves out everywhere they can because they are women are not asking to be treated the same; they are hoping for preferential treatment. I never expect preferential treatment. Have I gotten it before? Probably. For every male who tells me to get the fuck off the radio and back into the kitchen exists one who will go out of his way to open the door for me. There are polar opposites in anything.
I just believe we are past the point where it’s a big deal, and I don’t think that my estrogen should ever be a factor unless we’re talking childbirth or menstruating. I do not consider myself special. I don’t think I am worthy of your admiration. I do my own thing, I am building my reputation, I try to be respected in everything I do and I work just as hard as anyone else.
Not harder because I am a woman.
Hot off the presses over at Tea Party Throwdown by Boston’s very own Sarah Connors!
I bet you all thought I’d forgotten about this, didn’t you?
No, as much as I’d like to pretend that I never wore a barberpole striped Carey Price jersey during the mother of all Bruins games, the Winter Classic – I did, and I am ashamed. What I’m not ashamed of, though, is the fact that we’re still raffling this mother off. Yes, the Epic Charity Wager is still very much alive and kicking unlike the Bruins this year.
You all have until March 20th, the date of the East Meets West Habs Tweetup in Montreal, QC, at which time a winner will be selected. Raffle tickets are $5 each (and don’t worry, those of you who donated previously – I’ve got your names all written down).
Raffle tickets will be on sale at the tweetup! Look for the tall brunette drinking cream ale.

Tonight,
I was lucky enough to attend MFL 2: Battleground, thanks to the guys at Ringside Report. This was only Mixed Fight League’s second event, and they drew in a huge crowd and created a lot of buzz around their fight card.
Please see below my video reaction to the event + The Fight Network’s video preview for this event.
Full results of the fights can be found here.

My night at MFL 2 Battleground!
Wow, the editing SUUUUCKS but it’s my first attempt and it’s too late & I’m too tired to start over so whatever. Just watch it anyway.
Very quick MMA predictions once again… I just bought myself a new camera & toyed around with the options and stuff. The music in the background is Get Up (instrumental) by 50 Cent. It’s my go-to music to get pumped for MMA events… don’t ask why, it just is. Not sure if I like the music, might be a bit too obnoxious, but anyway. YEAH. WAR SARAH!
Oh la la. Commences the countdown to his fight on March 27. Get ready to see A LOT of GSP everywhere.
