Girly tomboy with a passion for fighting, writing, hockey and life’s delicacies, like chicken wings and beer.
This week’s edition of Game Points with Matthew Ross was especially interactive and energetic, and I have attached audio of my segments on the show. Let me know what you think!
Part 1:
Réjean Tremblay’s article in La Presse regarding Pierre Boivin “finally” defending La Nation Québécoise by ensuring everything related to the Habs is bilingual, and thoughts from Habs blogger bebehabs over at BleuBlancPisRouge.com.
Part 2:
UFC 109 quick round up and fantasy hockey by the guys at The Hockey Card Show (awesome videos where 2 guys sit around, drink beer and discuss hockey cards – it’s fantastic) – The Hockey Card Show Olympic Pool (you could win a Team Canada jersey! and there’s even a trashtalk tab. I love it.)
I welcome and encourage comments and questions, so have at it!
You can hear me on Game Points with Matthew Ross Sundays 8 to 10 pm and Tuesdays 11pm to 1am by visiting Team 990’s website to listen online.

As I have mentioned before, I started collaborating with the guys over at Ringside Report as a columnist (you can read my articles here, including my piece on UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman set to fight Randy The Natural Couture tonight). Last night, they had me on their show, Ringside Report Radio over at Team 990, to give my UFC 109 predictions. It was a lively discussion, everyone had some interesting ideas and we are pretty much in agreement that Nate Marquardt is going to demolish Chael Sonnen.
Listen to the entire show here (our UFC 109 picks roundtable starts a bit before the half-way mark).
If you’re interested in listening to the entire show, read on to find out what was discussed:
In this episode Dave and Kevin discussed WEC going to Pay-Per-View, Brock Lesnar appearing on the cover of UFC Undisputed 2010 and more.
Strength and conditioning coach to Nate Marquardt and many more, Jonathan Chaimberg, appeared on the show from Las Vegas to talk about the fighters he has trained for UFC 109. Chaimberg also confirmed Chael Sonnen’s assertion that Anderson Silva speaks English and much more.
Ringside Report contributors Julie V and Tito Curtis joined Dave and Kevin to give their thoughts on Ringside Report’s UFC 109 Roundtable. Dave and Kevin gave a full preview of the card and all four members of the Ringside Report team gave their predictions.
Let me know what you think of our picks! UFC 109: Relentless airs tonight on PPV at 10pm EST.

Last Saturday, I was lucky enough to be invited to Ringside MMA: Triple Threat as part of the media for Ringside Report. (you can read what I’ve written for them here.) This was the second MMA event I covered for them and first professional one. I even got to go to the weigh ins.
What’s that word when you’re doing something really cool you never thought you’d ever get to do and you feel so out of place, you think you’re sticking out like a sore thumb with a neon sign that reads “I don’t belong”?
Well, that’s how I felt. and it was AWESOME. It was wonderfully awkward, as it proved to be a bit of a challenge to set aside my love for the sport from a fan’s perspective and represent the company as a professional.
It was hard not to be a fan and gush about everything that was happening around me. I was sitting about a foot away from the octagon. Between the judges’ table and the athletic commission’s table. UFC referee Yves Lavigne stepped on my foot. It was so cool being that close to the action, but I had to contain my excitement the entire time.
This is where being raised by a strict military disciplinarian comes in handy: stand up straight, walk tall and shut your mouth.
Cheers!
Sooo… I decided to upload a vlog. Just a few thoughts I had regarding the commenting that was made during Strikeforce: Miami female lightweight championship fight between Cris Cyborg Santos and Marloes Coenen. I had a bit of a reaction to some of the comments that were made, and figured since I was on tilt, it would make a “great” video.
DISCLAIMER: The video is basically just me talking for 3 minutes, one take, uncut. I get flustered, I hit my laptop repeatedly near the end and it’s really annoying and loud, and I appear to trail off/lose my train of thought at one point, but I am deliriously tired and wanted to get this off my chest.
So if anything sounds stupid, it’s because I’m tired; if I somehow manage to articulate my thoughts in a manner that is coherent and relevant to, well, ANYTHING, then my job here is done.
Thanks and sorry for putting you through it.
I just got the pictures we took at Christmas this year at home, and I love my family so much, I felt like posting some here.
That’s all this post is about.
k thanks bye.
If anyone, besides my mom, wants to hear me talk MMA for 30 minutes, read on.
I was recently interviewed by Tyler Conium for his weekly interview segment of The Swamp:
This week my guest is Montreal native Julie Veilleux. Julie is a mixed martial arts (MMA) fan as well as an avid follower of the Montreal Canadiens. She is currently blogging, writing, and being heard on the radio on these topics and it was a true pleasure to talk to her. This girl really knows her stuff.
It will come as no surprise to those who know me that I could have gone on for five more hours on the subject. I’m not saying it would have been interesting for anyone else but me; I’m just saying. I could talk about mixed martial arts until I’m blue in the face. Incidentally, that could be a good vlogging idea. Yes/No?
Anyway, here is the link to either stream or download the interview. I hope you have as much fun listening to it as I had doing it. But probably not.
So I’ve decided I’ll post the links and topics I mention during my MMA segment on Game Points With Matthew Ross on The Team 990 here, so if anyone wants more info or wants to catch up on what they missed, they can read it here.
Thanks for listening, clicking, linking and following me on twitter! I am on Game Points on Sundays from 8 to 10 pm and Tuesdays from 11 pm to 1 am. À la semaine prochaine!
The UFC 113: Machida vs Shogun promo has to be the single greatest video out there on the internet right now. Yes, even better than surprised kitty. Yes, even better than Man Getting Hit By Football.
Check it out and thank me later.
If my 4 readers + my mom are interested in hearing my voice, head on over to Eklund’s Hockey Buzzcast.
(EPISODE360 – LIVE FROM THE TWEETUP at the WINTER CLASSIC)
We co-hosted a podcast live from the NHL Winter Classic Tweetup on January 1, 2010 and it was really fun. I hope you enjoy the first of hopefully many more opportunities for me to voice my thoughts and opinions to the world of sports.
Thanks for reading (and listening)!
